The Managing Director and CEO of Air Tanzania Company Limited, Eng. Ladislaus Matindi commented “The Wings of Kilimanjaro is proud to serve India with a direct flight and seamless connections to and from Tanzania and other destinations. Tanzania is the land of abundance of attractions and opportunities. We believe through cooperation of Air Tanzania and APG Inc., we will be able to contribute towards strengthening the trade and tourism of both the countries”.
Sandrine de Saint Sauveur, President & CEO of APG Inc. said “APG is delighted to represent Air Tanzania in India. I am confident that our team of professionals will ensure the success of the airline”.
Tanzania is known for its beautiful beaches, islands, seafood, music, wide range of cultures and is brimming with a variety of activities all year round for all types of tourists. The country also offers traditional colorful festivals and a unique experience of wildebeest migration of wildlife such as zebras and gazelles crossing the Mara River.
With the new route, the citizens of Tanzania will also have an advantage to fly directly to Mumbai, India`s business hub & experience the ‘incredible India’ - the country’s history, folk art, religious / traditional festivals, delicious food and spiritual sites. It will help the Tanzanian nationals to avail world class medical facilities while flying direct to India.
"The resumption of Air Tanzania operations between Dar es Salaam to Mumbai serves at best as a ‘game changer’ in the bilateral engagements between Tanzania and India" says, High Commissioner Baraka Luvanda. Notably, the recent past has seen a surge in the number of developmental exchanges between the two countries through high level visits, tranches of development support, capacity building training programs, large number of Tanzanian students studying in various parts of India, medical visits by many Tanzanians and more so, people to people interactions. However, these exchanges were executed or have been conducted by using other national carriers. Now that Air Tanzania comes in, it is really heartwarming as it will also cut down flight hours between Dar es Salaam and Mumbai. Interestingly, there is a sizeable business case between Dar es Salaam and Mumbai as the two points happen to have two strategic ports for both countries. Again, while Mumbai remains a commercial hub of India, Dar es Salaam is a gateway to some landlocked countries that depend on the Dar es Salaam port for both their imports and exports.
By and large, Air Tanzania enables India's access to a market of 160 plus million of the East African countries as well as to about 450 million people in the SADC region.
