At the invitation of the Chief Executive Officer of M & M GEMS of Jaipur,Ambassador Baraka Luvanda visited on 30 November 2019 the City of Jaipur to explore opportunities for Tanzanian gemstones trade and investment around jewelry industry. Ambassador Luvanda was accompanied by Dr. Kheri Goloka (First Secretary).

M & M Gems is a renowned world’s premier cutter of colored gemstones which has a long working relationship with Tanzania and considers exploring new avenues following the recent policy, legal and regulatory reforms in the sector.

After exchanging the usual courtesies, Ambassador Luvanda was taken through the history of the company, the company experience, the strength and challenges they are facing. On his part, Ambassador Luvanda informed the company about the recent reforms which have enabled a shared vision for a win-win partnership for all players in the industry and assured them the Government continues to improve on these reforms by the day. The reforms have resulted in the introduction of new forms of doing business in the sector, including the use of dealership and lapidary licenses which are open to both local and foreign investors.

It came out so clearly that the company possess long standing and repute in the area of gemstones cutting and polishing and specializes on emerald and tanzanite gemstones for over 22 years in existence.

Ambassador Luvanda thanked the company leadership for the kind invitation and for sharing about heir extensive experience and their interest to renew their interest on Tanzanian stones. Ambassador Luvanda extended an invitation to the CEO and his team to visit Tanzania at an opportune moment in not a distant future and assured his full support in facilitating the meetings with relevant high level government dignitaries and experts in the sector.
