New Delhi, India, February 10, 2020 - The High Commissioner of the United Republic of  Tanzania Baraka H. Luvanda joined on 10 Feb 2020 the University of Dar es Salaam delegation attending the International Conference on "Understanding Africa: Continuity and Change" being held at the India International Centre in New Delhi. The delegatin of two lecturers from the University of Dar es Salaam comprises Professor Penina Mlama (Professor of Creative Arts) and Dr. George D. Nahimiani, Head - Art & Design, Creative Arts Department.

The conference is being held in the run up to the India-Africa Forum Summit (IAF IV) and is attended by 14 delegates (academics) from 12 African countries in addition to their Indian counterparts. It aims to promote an understanding of Africa, taking the historical continuity into account, including the historical ties between Africa and India.

Overall, the underlying theme of the conference has been the continuity in Africa's history, development and relations with India. Hence the need for a composite and holistic approach covering cultural, historical and civilizational aspects.

The three day conference will be concluded on 12 Feb 2020.
