New Delhi, September 21, 2021 – The High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to India, H.E. Mr. Baraka Luvanda today addressed the India-Tanzania Conference which was organized by the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) in collaboration with the Indian Africa Trade Council (IATC). The Conference was held at the Federation of Indian Organization (FIEO) premises in New Delhi and attracted over 50 participants. 

The High Commissioner assured the participants of the secure environment for investment, trade and tourism that exist in Tanzania.

"We have a secure, stable and appropriate environment that guarantees your investments and expropriation of profits at no strings, on win-win partnerships," he said.

The participants at the conference were also updated on the current political, social and economic situation as well as development trends in Tanzania especially, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Equally, participants were informed that the current level of bilateral trade is a true reflection of the traditional, historical and friendly partnership between India and Tanzania.

It was also emphasized that Tanzania is an important partner for Indian industries and businesses. It has a vast pool of resources, conducive business environment, politically sound economic policies, macro-economic stability, abundant natural resources, relatively educated labor force, a sizeable and captive market because of Tanzania's unique geographical location.

It was also noted that India is an important trading partner for Tanzania and that India has strength in maritime and shipping, manufacturing, hydropower, clean energy and IT and financial services. Participants were urged to explore possible bilateral cooperation in the area of the blue economy such as cooperation in Ocean Space and Ocean Management, fisheries and renewable energy.

Following a Q and A session, a lot of business interest was shown by most participants and it has been suggested that IETO and IATC mobilizes a business and trade delegation to Tanzania in early November 2021.

In his keynote address, Ambassador Luvanda congratulated and thanked IETO and IATC for the excellent preparation of the Conference. He also thanked the Diplomatist team for having conceived the whole idea of the Conference and for its preparation including, the preparation of the special report which was released during the Conference.
