The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Heads of Mission based in New Delhi held an Extraordinary Meeting on 25th October 2019 at Tanzania High Commission in New Delhi and recalled the decision of the 39th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) held in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania from 17th to 18th August 2019 under the Chairmanship of President Dr. John P. Magufuli, that declared the 25th of October of each year a day for all SADC Member States to express their solidarity with Zimbabwe against the imposition of illegal sanctions, in place since 2002.

The SADC Heads of Mission expressed deep concern over the continued application of the illegal sanctions that have had an adverse impact on the welfare and economic well-being of the people of Zimbabwe and curtailed the implementation of regional economic programmes and the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SADC Heads of Mission reiterated the urgent need to lift those coercive economic measures and call upon all progressive peace loving nations to condemn the unfair and unilateral illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.
